Match IPL 9 2016

IPL is different as compared to other league tournaments as the players are auctioned by the teams for this tournament. In IPL 2016, total 67 players have been purchased by the teams through auction while Yuvraj Singh is the most expensive player of the tournament. Delhi Daredevils team purchased Yuvraj for 16 crore Indian rupees. There are 13 umpires and 4 match referees among 26 officials of the tournament.

The matches of IPL 9 will be hosted by 12 venues in India. All the teams have their home grounds while few teams also have secondary home grounds. The final match of Pepsi IPL 9 2016 final match will be hosted by Eden Gardens Kolkata. This year, total 8 teams will appear in the tournament. Mumbai Indians team will defend its title during IPL 9 while the teams of Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have also won this title previously. The other teams present in this tournament are Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions.

During the group stage, total 56 matches will be played. Every team will play two matches against every other team. The teams will play one match at its home ground and the 2nd match at its opponent’s home ground. After group stage, top 4 teams will qualify for the next stage where two quarter finals and an eliminator match will be played. Eden Gardens Kolkata will host the final match on 29th May 2016.
